I fairly certain this is the view that tt2 was referring to:



As you can see, it's the Songs View, with the Column Browser set to display only the Albums column. You cannot fully hide the track list underneath it, but you can drag the divider down until only about four lines of track names are displayed.


As tt2 says, it's probably as close as you will get to your ideal view.


In this view, if you select one album in the Albums list, only the songs from that album will be shown underneath.
