Deleting Apple ID

a few months ago someone stole a phone I was selling and they signed into their account. I was able to get the phone back but it’s his account signed in. I’m trying to delete it so I can sell the phone but I can’t because I need his password. Is there a way for apple to delete it on their end?

You will need to contact Apple with the original receipt to show you are the original owner and ask them about removing the Activation Lock.
