I had a subscription to online content of a newspaper paid for with Apple Pay. The newspaper took regular payments but I wanted to cancel them. How do I do that (other than via the vendor/newspaper)? It’s not an App Store or iTunes subscription

OK, I suppose. It seems unsatisfactory that I can't stop someone taking my money without having to ask them first. If it was just paid with a credit card or bank direct debit I could just cancel the permission.
You have to contact the newspaper or go to their website to cancel that subscription since it was not through Apple.
