Hey Simon,

I see you have a concern with your Mac taking a few moments to search files and mail, and switching apps also takes some time.

Take a look at the Activity Monitor when performing these actions to see if you notice any other apps that may be the cause for these performance issues. Here's some more info about using Activity Monitor: See how apps affect Mac performance, battery runtime, temperature, and fan activity

A different method you can use to determine if third-party apps are causing the slow performance is by testing these actions in a test user account: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac. If you're able to use Mail and switch between apps without an issue in this test user account, then you'll know the issue is with specific settings or apps in the main account. You can find more information in the above resource about this.

Keep us updated. Take care!

Hello Joseph,

Thank you for your reply. Let me try and update you.

For more information, searching same file via "finder" search function return the result speedy (less than 1 sec), while via spotlight will take a few seconds. Seems to me, this is not related the speed of computer or some apps taking up the computer resources.

// Activity Monitor - Mail //

It seems normal to me, just mail app will take up 120% of CPU, then soon will turn to zero. Or a process named " Window Server" seems take 30-50% during search

// Activity Monitor - Spotlight //

Seems nothing special during spotlight search.

I will install the test account and send you comments soon!

Thanks very much!
