Disappearing cursor in OS Ventura 13.1

Cursor disappears on a new (December 2, 2022) MBP with M2 chip running Ventura 13 and then 13.1 upgrade. Especially frequent when MacMail client is open, but also with MS Word application open. What is the cause and are there known fixes?

To trouble shoot further you can:

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

—A SafeBoot How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

This test will tell you if third party interference; extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.
