corrupt backup and can't delete it

I get the message below when I try to back up my phone. There are no backups showing in device preferences, so nothing to delete. How can I delete a backup that isn't there?

(Thanks, marion0)

None of the solutions at "If your iTunes backup couldn't be completed or you can't restore from a backup" apply. I have the latest iTunes on my PC, I'm looking at my iPhone in iTunes, restarted the iPhone, disabled PC security software, have enough disk space on the PC, and get the same error trying to back up to iCloud, which I have never done so how could the backup be corrupted? How do I remedy this catch-22 and back up my iPhone to my PC?

Hello PaddyMcQ,

I understand that you're receiving a message that you have a corrupted backup and its asking you to delete it and try again. When you try to delete the backup there is no backup there to delete. I am happy to help.

Follow the steps provided in the article below for help with deleting that backup.

Locate backups of your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
