E-mail shows as sent, but not reaching recipient.

I have @mweb.co.za, @gmail.com, @me.com and @intekom.co.za mail set up on my ipad, iphone and MacBook Air. (Using Apple Mail, MacOs Catalina Version 10.15.3) Sending and receiving on Ipad and Iphone works perfectly for all addresses, but on my Macbook Air the @intekom.co.za e-mail reflects as sent, but sometimes does not reach recipient. I have now set up my preferences to CC me on outgoing messages, as that is the only way I would know if the mail has reached the recipient.

In one day, it would work and then suddenly not. I have tried to establish a pattern, but it happens randomly.

I have spent an hour at an Istore to try and resolve this issue, which it appeared to do, only to return a few days later.

I have deleted the e-mail address and added it again, doesn't seem to make a difference.

Also confirmed with Telkom (Intekom) that the smtp that I am using is correct, and my mailbox is fine.

My other issue is that the incoming mail from @intekom.co.za seems to be delayed ONLY ON MY MACBOOK, I can see them as they come in on my other devices, but on the Macbook it is as if a "gate" opens once or twice a day, and lets in all the mail.

I really hope somebody can shed some light on this very frustrating problem, Thanks in advance

Hello, Powa43.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

From what I've read is that you're having troubles with sending/receiving with one specific email service and I'd like to help. Be sure that all settings are correct on your end, check out these two articles for reference:

If you can’t send email on your Mac

Mail settings you might need from your email provider

Also, once an email is sent, it is routed through the email provider and from there it will be sent to the recipient. This means if the other person is having troubles getting email, that would be an issue on their end and not yours.

Try seeing if this is a network issue, some email providers require certain ports to be open on routers. In the link I provided, there is a section that has most common ports used for outgoing and incoming mail. This could hinder the ability to send/receive email and you will have to contact Telkom for this information. To make sure these ports are open, you'll need to contact your routers manufacturer or ISP.

If possible, to help rule out networking issues, try to connect your MacBook to another Wi-Fi network.

Keep me updated.

Cheers!

Hi,

Thank you so much for the reply, however I have done all you suggested before posting my question.

These nondelivery issues are also random, one moment the recipient will receive my e-mail, sent from my Macbook and on the same day, the same recipient suddenly does not receive an e-mail from me.

This is also a problem that just suddenly started one day, I've had this particular e-mail address for 20+ years, with recipients receiving e-mails no problem.

AND, Sending from my iPad or iPhone, recipients ALWAYS receive the e-mail, therefor my logic says it must be the Macbook Air.

Currently I am forced to work on my laptop, but have my iPad next to me to send important e-mails to clients and customers, and to quote a Queen song "I am going slightly mad".

Ideally, finding a person in an Istore with extensive knowledge about apple mail, that can sit with me and help look for the problem would be perfect, but I have tried leaving a detailed message on live chat (as the operators were busy) on the Istore website, with no response.

Any further suggestions?
