Email Login failed

Im getting a "login failed" error when I open the Mail app on my Mac. To fix it all I do is click the login failed icon and all my emails are downloaded. how to I stop that without re-entering my password?

Why has my login failed for gmail on my Mac I cannot access my gmail account on my Mac. It keeps saying login failed and I have tried so many times. Even by changing my password. I can access my gmail account through safari in gmail but not through the stamp picture of gmail on my Mac and it is so annoying. What can I do please?
