So I’m watching movies on my fire stick using Apple TV. I usually keep Subtitles off, but when another language is spoken the subtitles don’t appear to show the translation. The only solution is to keep Closed Captioning on but then im forced to see subtitles for the entire movie. This isnt an issue when using apple tv on my iphone.
Has anyone else experienced this, and is there a fix?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities, and it appears that subtitles are having an issues with they are off, but some audio is in another language requiring subtitles for translation. I'll do what I can to help.
Depending on the movie, it should be able to do this automatically. Try looking into the subtitle information to see if there's an option that includes both the English language with subtitles: Control what’s playing in the Apple TV app

You can always check to make sure the Fire TV Stick is on the latest software: Fire TV Device and Accessory Software Updates
You an also try restarting the Fire TV Stick: Restart Fire TV Device

Thank you so much for replying. The movie as an example is the Equalizer. Audio is in english which is fine but when characters begin to speak in russian you can only see dialogue if subtitles are on. Obviously some movies are different where no translation subtitles are unavailable regardless of the settings. In any case ive gone through the available options even through the fire tv settings itself and nothing. I was hoping that its just a matter of an update that needs to be done in future. As mentioned watching the movies on my iphone works as it should, seems to be an amazon fire tv issue
