iPhone constantly offering to share wifi password when macbook open

Dear All,

After the last mac osx and iPhone update (following this topic: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8498923) my iPhone now constantly trying to share the password with my laptop.

Here is a picture what i get always

The wifi is my home wifi, and the name of the device is my laptop name. I read the previous thread and nothing helped me from there... of course deleting the network is nice, but then i am loosing my home wifi from the phone. This is brand new after the iOS and macOS updates, so i never had before :(

what is annoying is that even if i am sharing the password, fine, then i put the phone down, goes to "sleep" when i raise up again and unlock with touch id, this thing comes up again... always! After every unlock.

Anybody else has this as well or i am the only one ? :)

Thank you for your help!

Regards

Robert

Hey there hlpbob007,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! I understand you are seeing a repeated prompt regarding Wi-Fi Password Sharing. I am happy to help out.

It sounds like you were able to successfully run through the steps to share your Wi-Fi password, but you continue seeing this prompt on your phone. My recommendation would be to try the following steps:

  1. Disconnect from that Wi-Fi network on both your iPhone and Mac: How to forget a Wi-Fi network on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac - Apple Support.
  2. Restart your iPhone: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support, and Mac: How to turn your Mac on or off - Apple Support.
  3. Follow the steps under 'Before you begin' in this article, to share your Wi-Fi password once more: How to share your Wi-Fi password from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support.

Let me know if the prompt continues after you perform these steps, which act like a refresh.

Best regards.

Hello A13_usr,

I followed your steps 1 and 2.

After the restart i added the wifi network in my laptop, then in my phone, my wife's phone already got it via wifi sharing. Then i put both phones back in stand-by closed the laptop lid. Once i open the laptop again and turn both phones back now i do not see the wifi sharing any more... Seems to be this works as of now. I will test further in the next weeks and I hope it is gone now :) thanks for your advice!

Cheers

Robert
