I have a Iphone 7s which has been fine connecting to my cars with USB. Recently, changed cars to a BMW and when connecting to USB phone charge cuts in and out continually, yet works everywhere else. No problem with cable??
Check with the dealer to make sure your system has all the updates and get the cable and port tested.
Audi is a better iPhone charger than a BMW? Both are still very expensive chargers, though. But seriously, if the iPhone works with other USB chargers, and if the cable works with other devices, borrow a meter and check the USB power provided from the BMW. Check for applicable BMW technical service bulletins, and BMW firmware updates, too. Might want to check BMW forums, too.

Yes, charges on all other devices, except car, where charge cuts in and out continually, whereas, all previous cars did not. It is a BMW.
