High Sierra Upgrade

My 2011 vintage iMAC is running OS 10.12.6. I'm trying to upgrade to High Sierra 10.13.6. I have downloaded High Sierra 10.13.6 from the Ap Store. When I attempt to install, it tells me that I need 10.13. I cannot find 10.13. Where do I get High Sierra 10.13?

You have downloaded an update installer, not an upgrade installer. How to upgrade to macOS High Sierra.

Before You Upgrade macOS

  1. Fix any problems before upgrading.
  2. Run First Aid in Disk Utility while booted from your Recovery HD.
  3. Backup. Make a bootable clone using CarbonCopy Cloner or use TimeMachine.
  4. Be sure your startup disk has 18-20GB of free space during the installation.
  5. Upgrade third-party software for compatibility. See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps. If you have mission critical software, then DO NOT upgrade until you know that software is compatible with the version of macOS you are about to install.
  6. Disconnect all third-party peripherals.
  7. Download the installer which will be in the Applications folder. Quit the installer after it opens, then make a copy of the installer and save it in the Downloads folder. The one in the Applications folder will be deleted after a successful installation.
  8. The download is large, anywhere between 5 and 9GBs. It takes time to complete. Be patient.
  9. Double-click on the installer in the Applications folder. Click on the start button to begin the installation.

I also have a similar problem upgrading to High Sierra but cannot find the App in Apple Store (or anywhere else). It appears Sierra v 10.12.6 is 3 generations behind the latest Apple OS and wonder if Apple is not even making it available? I am resigned to the fact that I shall be using Sierra until the machine crashes or if I trade in for another new desktop Mac with the latest OS.

Having the same issue and Mac's support team has given me the same answer twice. I clicked on the link that the support team has sent and a web-page for High Sierra appears. There are only a few thing that respond to a click, the word MORE which opens up info regarding the OS spec's and also info links on the right side end to more and more info.

No downloadable Operating system link anywhere. I should have found something somewhere but nothing worked.

I will be calling Mac's support in the morning. I believe that talking it over will save time and fill in all the little details. I'll post the outcome and all of the details.
