How to reset archive file associations to macOS defaults and get the default icons for archives?

I recently needed to open RAR archive, so I downloaded the Unarchiver and it associated all archive file types to itself. I want to set it back to archive utility and I want to have the default archive icons (the nice looking ones, pic 1) but when I set the default app to Archive Utility all the archive files have the green Arch. Util. icon (pic 2). Is there any way to to this?

One interesting thing is that if you uninstall unarchiver (while the files are set to unarchiver), it changes back to default. Well, I guess macOS is nearly perfect OS, so I have to learn to live with it.

And about the bug report... as you said, it's insignificant so I don't see a point in filing such report because Apple won't care.

But I appreciate the effort.

That does happen. The icons may or may not change. They may not change until you open the archive then do a Save As. Even then, it may not change. This is just one of thousands of appearance bugs that exist in macOS. They are simply not important enough to tie up time and money fixing them. They may offend your esthetics but they don't prevent your computer from working properly.

I've not found a solution for this, so I have learned to ignore it. You are welcome to file a bug report: Bug Reporter - Submit a bug report with Apple Bug Reporter.
