Mojave install issues on Mac Pro 2010, weird.

Hi hello all,

I am not the only one I think but I like tip advise about this problem I have.

Goal: Clean Mojave install on SSD drive

The Drive is prepared clean.

I installed Mojave on another NVME drive by upgrading High Sierra there. Successfull

Hardware is a 5770 GPU no Filefault active.

I made a bootable Mojave USB stick and can boot.

After booting with the stick I install Mojave on my target SSD

I get then the error that Filefault must be not activated and I need a Metal comp GPU

I reset SMC en NPram not solved

So strange I did bought esp a 5570 put in worked on one drive.

Even with same 5770 and FileVault not act.

So who can assist?

Thx all.

Hey Flying Dutchy - Fire up google and put in the name Dosdude1 and Mojave. You'll find it. Dead simple, clean as a whistle and gives more life to your old hardware. The guy that made the patcher has a monster thread up on macrumors, they have great tips, tricks and links to in-depth guides and walkthroughs.

Stuff that SHOULD be here.

Everyone here is so uptight about falling afoul of Apple's censorious forum rules that as D.I Johnson wrote, this isn't the place - even though 15 years or so ago it *used* to be.. God knows I put a big post up about getting Tiger onto an unsupported beige G3 and later also others about modding builds and the like.

But somewhere along the way, it got way less fun to be in these communities.. the whole 'security' angle made everyone paranoid and Steve Jobs died and it all went to.. well.

FYI - am using a 2008 MacPro3,1 with Mojave. Had to leave the forums to get info on the fun stuff.

Good luck!

Deb.

Hello, Flying Dutchy.

I think you're going to run into compatibility problems with your 2010 Mac Pro and Mojave. The official word from Apple is that Mac is not supported for that software.

Please see:

How to upgrade to macOS Mojave – Apple Support

I know that some folks have modded installations of various macOS's into various hardware, but this probably isn't the place to be looking for those answers. They kinda violate Apple Software Licensing Agreements.

Good luck.

hey hi D Johnson,

Thx for your help and answer but how can it be explained that I have one bootable NVME SSD with Mojave on it on the same machine and same hardware.

There was the High Sierra upgrade to Mojave successful (after SMC reset and PRam).

I can clone it to that other SSD but I want a clean Mojave install.

Very weird..

One thing I try I a Mojave install on a harddrive instead of SSD.

Maybe is that the problem.

hey MrAssociates,

I do know. Had the same problem with downloading for making USB boots Mojave and Highsierra.

Some failures and fcking up USB sticks.

Finally got a good High Sierra Download

I use High Sierra Patcher a tool for installation and even downloading a full install from menu tools.

Try it , read under this from Deborah.

yes I know Deborah. I try his tools again on Mojave.
