"The file can't be found." on booting...

Everytime I start my MacBook Pro (intel chip), I get two error message. Both say "The file can't be found". This has been happening ever since I updated to big sur. I have to click on "OK" (twice) to make them go away. Neither does it tell you what file can't be found.

I just updated to Ventura 13.1 and the problem remains. As does the control strip/touch bar issue. Is Apple going downhill...SMH.

Do the error messages state the filename of the missing files or the path? Sounds like software was removed or is no longer compatible and there's a remnant still trying to do something on startup.

What do you see in System Settings -> General -> Login Items? Can you reply with a screenshot?

one app loading at boot (dropbox), and LOTS (dozens or more) of others that load in background. I deleted the dropbox loading, and a few at a time of the others until none were loading at boot. This DID eliminate the original error, but instead, now there's a status message that says I've got a notification in settings (but clicking on it opens System Settings -> General -> Login items but does nothing else. So instead of two message boxes I have 10-20 of these status messages! TIA if you have more ideas of what to try next.

Again, Apple seems to be slip-sliding away in terms of reliability, especially with the Touch Bar madness I and others have had to deal with to no avail.
