how do I remove photos from my iphone that I synced from my computer?

I added pictures from my computer to my iPhone using iTunes. There was a specific folder that I used.

I no longer want those pictures on my iPhone but don't know how to get rid of them. I can't erase them on my computer and when I tried in iTunes, it didn't work.

Any ideas?

You have to go back to iTunes, while the iPhone is connected to the computer. Go to the Photo tab, and remove the checkmark by the folder that you have synced to the iPhone, then sync the phone again. That will remove the folder from the phone.

Turn off iTunes syncing

If you don't want the synced photos on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch anymore, turn off syncing in iTunes and they'll be removed from your device. You can turn off syncing for some of your photo albums or all of them at once.

Stop syncing some albums

  1. Open iTunes on your computer and connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
  2. Click on the device icon in iTunes.
  3. Click Photos.
  4. Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections that you want to stop syncing.
  5. Click Apply.

Stop syncing all photos

  1. Open iTunes on your computer and connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
  2. Click on the device icon in iTunes.
  3. Click Photos.
  4. Deselect "Sync Photos" then click "Remove photos."
  5. Click Apply.

I was responding to Alex and indirectly to fyip. But to me, you are a youngster also.

You are correct, the photos app will not let you delete them because they weren’t synced through iCloud. You need to connect the phone to your computer, then locate it in Finder (if you are using Catalina) or iTunes on older Macs and Windows. Click on it and, after a delay, you should see a Summary screen. Across the top will be things to view. Click on Photos. This will list all of the photo albums (as folders) that you synced from your computer to your phone. Uncheck the one(s) you want to get rid of, then click Sync or Apply in the lower right corner of the screen. (This is what Chris posted, but in more detail). If you don’t see any when you click on Photos post back with what you do see.

Can you not delete them from your iPhone using the Photos app? Not sure what you mean by a "Specific Folder". Did you mean a specific Album? More details please so we can try and guide you in the right direction.

Some of you youngsters have never had experience with the pre-iCloud way of getting photos onto your phone. 😏 Chris has the solution.
