loginwindow is using 99% of my CPU and constantly running my fan?

My fans constantly running and when I open up activity monitor, the top user of CPU is a process called loginwindow? What does this mean and how can I stop this? My understanding is that its a all the processes that open up when i login into my MacBook?Thanks

Reset  SMC:   How to reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support   Choose the appropriate method.

Startup in Safe mode. https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201262

To leave Safe Mode, click  in the menu bar and choose “Restart”
