Crossfade doesn't work at all on playlists migrated from Itunes, and only half works for new playlists

I'm working on playlists for an upcoming event and really getting frustrated with Apple Music's crossfade feature. It does not work as Apple claims it does in the user guide.

For my playlists migrated from iTunes, the crossfade does not work at all. I've tried every possible combination of crossfade settings on the playback tab and they are all completely ignored. Songs cut from one to the next with no fade in or our regardless of any settings on the tab.

For newly created playlists, crossfade only half works. The end of songs correctly fade out by the number of seconds specified on the slider, but the beginnings of songs to not fade in, no matter how the slider is set.

Come on Apple! You can do better than this. If you don't understand how crossfade should work please look at Spotify. It has a crossfade feature that works correctly.
