GlobalProtect VPN not working with Iphone 11 after upgrade from Iphone 6 in September

I have a corporate laptop with PaloAlto's GlobalProtect VPN. I had an Iphone 6+ and upgraded in September to Iphone 11 Pro. I can no longer connect through the Iphone as a hotspot, from my laptop, as I have always done in the past. I cannot get support from my corporate office as the iphone 11 is a personal phone.

I was told by Verizon that this change is intentional as the hotspot is public, and the VPN is private and the two are not compatible. That seems inconsistent with the entire intent of a hotspot...and plus...Verizon then offered their hotspot gizmo as an alternative.

I'm just trying to figure out whether this is permanently not an option or whether there is something I can do to use my phones hotspot with my laptop.

FYI. I have reset network connections, I can connect to phone and can sometimes access the internet and other times not. I did download the GlobalProtect App available in the APP store but it seems like this is something that has to be setup via my companies it support and that's not going to happen.

Thanks.

You seemingly already have your answer. You just don’t like it.

You’ll want to contact the app vendor to confirm what Verizon told you, or continue discussions with your IT folks and your own management if a hotspot connection vis this VPN is required for remote access for business purposes.

Using a hot-spot for a VPN is just asking for security problems, too. This as there’s far less control over the hotspot clients.
