Exercise not reading on apple watch

I am beyond frustrated with the Apple Watch not reading exercise time. I work out for 20 minutes and it only counts 6 minutes! I restarted both watch and phone, almost daily and now that doesn’t even work, I turn off privacy before restarting. I have the watch extremely tight on my wrist so it can read.

I just want it to count when I have done my work out and it F’n doesn’t count!!!

My understanding is that you have to maintain a certain heart rate for that minute to be counted as an exercise minute. Based on what I have read, unless you use "Other" or "Yoga" you have to accomplish one of the following to get the exercise ring to record:

  1. Heart rate higher than 130
  2. Average pace lower than 18'10" per mile
  3. Speed higher than 9.5 mph

I can't vouch for those specific numbers, but I feel sure there is some kind of algorithm. See the "Make sure that you earn Move and Exercise credit" section in:
