Creating Invoice in Numbers

Hello all!

I am in the process of creating a custom invoice template in Numbers for reoccurring future use.

I have run into one road block though so to speak.

I would like to have a cell autogenerate the next invoice number every time I use the template to make another invoice. Otherwise its going to be impossible not to have multiple invoices with the same number as this will be a collaborative spreadsheet with many individuals working in it.

Does anyone know how to accomplish this?

I know there's a way in Excel so I hope Numbers is able as well...

Thanks mucH!

Hi Jake,

The only way I can think of to autogenerate an invoice number is something like this, using NOW()

this custom format uses the date and time down to seconds to generate a number. If you are printing or saving to pdf that will freeze the function for the pdf. Otherwise, it will recalculate everytime the table is changed unless they Copy/Paste Formula Results. I am not sure this is a safe solution.
