This is not a sufficient answer. The fact that apple products are not as user friendly makes it easier for someone like me to use an android product instead of apple. Thanks for wasting my money and time. You just lost a loyal client.

First, you are not speaking with Apple, so your anger is misplaced.

Your answer is in the error message. Simply put, your movies are not licensed for you to do as you wish. You purchased them with very specific rights as to how you can use them.

Sending them from an iOS device to a TV is not allowed. If you have an Apple TV, you may be able to play them that way.

It is the movie makers that dictate these rules, not Apple.

Have at.

Port away.

But do recall that content protection and this HDCP mess also applies to Android devices, too.

With the current Apple configuration, you most likely need a display capable of HDCP, and/or maybe a newer HDMI cable.

Same case for the purchased content on Android, though.

Whether or not you believe it to be a sufficient answer, it is what it is. And it is not about making products user friendly, it has to do with the ability of the cable and the tv to handle user protected content. Despite the fact that you purchased the movies, what you purchased was a license. They are still copy protected content. You don't actually own the movie.

And, we haven't lost a client, or anything. This is a user to user support forum and Apple does not participate here. We are all volunteers and do not work for Apple. Most of us here will tell you to use whatever device works best for your situation. Go with what works for you.

It is what it is. That is the reality of digital media. The fact that you find it not sufficient does not alter reality.

Threats don't work here. You do what you do. If yiou want to buy an Android device be our guest. However, be forewarned that HDCP Applies to movies from the Google Play Store too. Its not Apple that is roping you into anything, its the media companies that would rather not have their content pirated indiscriminately and require digital distributors to assure them their media will not be easily pirated.

You are of course free to engage in piracy and download movies from torrents if that makes you feel better.

This is not exactly acurate. Sending them is perfectly allowed, but both the HDMI cable, and the TV must support HDCP.
