sorting order WITHIN Contacts fields

i have many telephone lines saved in my contacts for myself(and any other contact). i wish to be able to change the order in how each tel line appears ie: main line, then secondary line, then fax line... the phone lines are listed in the order in which i first inserted them(fax line, secondary line, main line). is there any way to change the sequential order of any/each of the fields within Contacts, without having to copy paste and re-install each again, in the order i wished them to be? if i add a 5th telephone line(for example), can i make it so its NOT listed as the 1st telephone number field?

That is correct. As I stated you can change the field name using the dropdown menu, but you will have to shuffle around the email addresses, manually. Not a good solution. Contacts does not provide any mechanism for changing the arrangement of fields.

As BD has linked, you could export the cards to an Excel file, change the arrangements as you would like them, then import the Excel file into Contacts.

the 'dropdown menu' alongside each email, telephone line, etc...does not change the ORDER of the field(i cannot slide that field up/down). the blue up/down arrows that are between the field label and the field telephone number(/email etc), only allow me to change the label or name of the telephone line already inserted on that field line number. i cannot actually move/change the field order. (i do find this confusing, since in many other applications, the presence of the 'up/down' arrow typically allows for one to physically move the order of that field, up or down (only if there are more than one fields actually filled in). in my case here, in Contacts(Catalina 10.15.3), the blue up/down arrows only permit me to open the label dialogue box.
