New Iphone 4 no sound, need help!

Having same problem. Just picked mine up this evening and am furious. Never had problems with any iPhones before. Hope it's an easy fix.

Return to Apple Store and they will assist you.

I purchased my iphone4 this evening, once I activated and synced it, I realised I have no sound coming out whatsoever. It works with my headphones but even with the volume set to full, its very difficult to hear. I am not happy about this one bit.

Does it really need to go back - Got mine today and have the same issue - Only get sound thru headphones and not ringtones/music etc have restored factory settings and still no joy

Have you all made sure that the switch on the top left is in the up position? By up position I mean towards the display side of the device.

Yes, I did all the basic checks, reset it many times, restored it many times and still no joy. Went to the o2 shop this morning to get it changed.

New issue on the phone now though. When people ring me it goes to voicemail but I can call from the phone. Had this issue on my 3G only recently so will give o2 techies a call in the morning.

this solved my problem. button on two phones in the house can float in the middle, appear to be on ring, and remain in silent mode.

I have the exact same problem. Exact.

Does anyone know how this may have happened?
I get ringtones, but no other sound e.g. games, ipod
I usb'd it to my car which initially worked, then stopped - saying "unsupported".
(this also happened to my 3g)
Has this happened to anyone after trying to plug it into something else other than their computer?

I just rebooted my phone & got the sound to work...
Should've known to always try that first!

I have iphone 3G but updated to 4.0.1 and the sound issue happened to me. Remove SIM while phone on wait about 20 sec then turn phone off then wait 5 sec turn phone on then slide to unlock and insert SIM at home screen. This should solve the sound mystery.

Your great!!!!!!!! Lol I was going crazyyyy trying to figure out y I have no sound. My switch at the top left was already facing up toward the screen, so I just pushed it down then pushed it back up and the sounds came back on!!!!! Thanks you soooooooo much!!!!!:D
