Have you Upgraded your Mac?:

macOS Mojave (10.14) and Catalina (10.5) only read APFS format. So, transfer it to another hard drive, format this drive to APFS, and then use it.

Mount the Disk:

Go to Disk Utilities and see if it is seen. If it is, yet it has not eject Button, then you need to mount the disk.

  • Mount it as an Administrator:

Go To: Applications > Utilities > Disk Utilities.

  • Mount it in Safe Mode:

If it is not seen, then power off your Mac. Boot your Mac, holding [Command + R]. Select Disk Utilities, and see if you can mount it that way.

Did you Install Security Software?:

If you have recently installed s

Security Software, uninstall it. Its Firewall Settings are probable dis allowing access to the drive. Go to the developer’s Web site and download the uninstaller.

Just dragging it to the trash leaves caches and settings left in the Mac.

Single this Out Use a New Administrator:

Log in as a different user and see if it is seen. If it is, then it is something configured in your current user.

Plug this into Another Computer:

A heavily-used hard drive typically has a lifespan of 2-4 years. So, if another computer does not see it, then it is dead. Look for data recovery services. A retailer might offer this service.
