MAIL cannot connect anymore using my two email accounts

My macbook Pro using High Sierra stopped allowing me to send or receive messages from my two email accounts. The computer is hooked up to the internet and working fine except for the Mail program. I checked the MAIL account settings and they are the same as on my iMac and iPad . My iMac mail program and my ipad Mail program are working perfectly.

I have noticed ,using the Connection Doctor on the Mail program, that first it takes a good 5 minutes and then it shows that my accounts are not connecting for either incoming or outgoing.

Can anyone help me sort this out?

I don't know where post this, I don't see a MAIL program option.

Thanks, Martha

EtreCheck is a simple little app to display the important details of your system configuration and allow you to copy that information to the Clipboard. It is meant to be used with Apple Support Communities to help people help you with your Mac.

Pastebin is a good place to paste the whole report...

Or use the paperclip at the bottom of a Reply to attach the full report here. :)

Workable but harder for me to work with...the Note tool on the bottom of this editor's toolbar, as shown in the image, to copy and paste the output from EtreCheck.

There is also free Malwarebytes which may take care of it...

Hi BDAqua and thanks for replying!

I have not changed my passwords in years and the same accounts are working perfectly on my iMac and ipad. I ran safe mode and the mail works perfectly in safe mode. So I checked my login items and found with great surprise that I had zoomopener as a log in item. So I hid it. I was unable to find anything related to zoom on my computer in my applications.

I have never run an anti viral program.

The accounts are msn.com and the other one is from a local internet service company where I live.

I just ran disk utilities in recovery mode which did not help, only safe mode worked while I was in safe mode.

I ran Etrecheck and it found safe surfer adware and showed me where it was so I removed it, restarted the computer, and now Mail is working for now anyway! Its a handy program. I'm glad I didn't need to do the paste because I couldn't figure out to do it. It did find a number of problems though. My other problem is my screen is so small I have problems reading it!

Thanks, BDAqua!
