iPad version: 12.4.5

Model Number: MD788CL/B

I solved by giving access to Microphone on my Mac Mini > Security&Privacy > Microphone > QuickTimePlayer

So access to both Microphone and Camera is mandatory in order to detect Real Devices.

Thanks for the reply though. 😊

Hello,

I dug out a device running 12.4.5 and I was able to replicate this problem. What QuickTime does not prompt you for is to give permission to do a screen recording. Within QuickTime > New Screen Recording. This will then throw an error that you need to give permission to record your Mac's display with QuickTime. You can now go into System Preferences > Privacy > Screen Recording > QuickTime. Now quit QuickTime. Re-open QuickTime > New Movie Recording > Select your iPad. It should now work!
