Blank screen in file explorer - why?
Hi there, you can see here, every time I open file explorer, I have this blank white screen on the right. How do I get rid of it? I"m in Mojave on a macbook pro 2018.
Thanks!

Click on the divider to the right of Date Modified and expand it out till the full date is shown. Then click on the right side of the finder window to get the double arrow icon and move the right side of the window in till the right edge of the Date Modified is flush with the right side.
Thanks so much for responding quickly! But this hasn't resolved it. I know how to remove that white window when it opens, but it defaults to this blank screen every time I go to save or open a document. What is that white screen for? I don't need to shrink or expand the finder, just to get rid of this blank box on top.
Also, it doesn't seem to matter if I'm in list view, icons, or anything else, this white window still appears.
Thanks!

Hold down the Option key when adjusting column width and that should fit it for other new Finder windows. Existing Finder windows have to be adjusted individually.
