Itunes starts as soon as I download a file; How do I turn this function off?

Hi

I´m working with wav-files and every time I download a file iTunes starts up and starts to play it. I haven´t found out how to turn this option off.

Does anyone know?

Best regards

Tobimusic,

That is a function of your browser. Each browser has a way to tell it what to do with each kind of file. For example in Firefox it is found in Preferences > Applications, where you can set it for music files to "always ask" instead of "use iTunes." Other browsers have similar settings.

Hello Tobimusic,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you're having trouble with iTunes beginning to play your music files when you download them. I'd be happy to share information that may help.

First, try these steps:

If the issue persists, please reply with the following details:

  • Where are you downloading the files from?
  • Are you attempting to import the files to iTunes or just download them to your Mac?

Take care.
