Apple watch 1won't update and pair correctly

Hi,

can anyone help with the following.

I found my old iwatch 1 that is having the following issue, when trying to connect to my XS it will find the watch and ask for check updates watchOS to complete the connections. When doing so i get the following watchOS 1.0.1 is up to date. from this point there isn't much i can do expect press cancel, the watch stays on the apple logo with product type.

Does anyone have solution, i have tried rebooting etc
