How do you reset an iPod Touch without the old Apple ID

THere is a ‘myth’ (and I say that because it is not something apple confirms that they can do), that if you have the original receipt proving that it is yours they can unlock and wipe devices.

This is only something that other people have reported them doing so something that may be left up to the discretion of the individual store manager.

Now, that said, as I understand it, all Apple stores are shut down due to the pandemic, and I don’t know if authorized service providers (such as Best Buy) are equipped to do this or can even do it - it may be something that Apple keeps only for themselves. So it you do try to do this you may be waiting a few weeks or more until Apple retail stores reopen.
