Files App: Couldn't Communicate with a helper application

I backed up my camera memory cards to my iPad Pro in the Files app. I am trying to move them to my Onedrive account so they are uploaded to the cloud. Every time I try I get an error message "The Operation Can't Be Completed - Couldn't communicate with a helper application". This error also occurs when I try and move them to my Creative Cloud and Google Drive. The only cloud service the works is iCloud. But I don't want to use iCloud because it lacks the customization others offer. Like selecting which folders sync to certain devices. I want these files to only sync to my work computer not my personal. Both have separate AppleID's which sharing across AppleID's is not supported. Any ideas how to get around this error?

This is a well known issue and your response is almost insulting. The problem is iPadOS and the Files app. Just tell people that there is nothing apple is doing about it and to cross their fingers each OS release.

Nikola, I’m having the same issue.. I don’t have a direct solution, but if it’s just photos your are trying to transfer then I recommend using Google Photos. Install it on your phone and let it upload your photos to the cloud automatically over Wi-Fi. It will host unlimited photos in high quality (up to 16 megapixels Or 1080p for videos). Then once it’s done you can access Google Photos from your computer via the website and download all your photos from there fairly effortlessly

IPhone 7 and my iPad Pro will not sync with my 13 inch MacBook Pro it keeps saying couldn't communicate with a helper Application!!! THESE ARE NOT OUTDATED APPLE PRODUCTS BUT WHEN UPDATING CATALINA – WHAT A MESS REALLY APPLE YOU CAN'T SEND OUT AN UPDATE WITHOUT MESSING WITH OUR CURRENT PROGRAMS WE WOULD RATHER HAVE THE OLD IOS THEN TO HAVE YOUR SO-CALLED NEW FEATURES. DOES ANYBODY KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS AND YES I'VE UNPLUGGED RESTARTED EVERYTHING BUT WIPING MY three devices clean and starting all over again. I HAVE LEARNED MY LESSON NOT UPDATE ANYTHING TILL I WAIT A FEW WEEKS OR MONTHS FOR EVERYBODY TO TELL ME ABOUT ALL THE NEW THE BUGS . IT'S BETTER TO STAY WITH THE PHONE, IPAD, OR MAC PRO OLDER VERSION THEN WITH ALL THE NEW BELLS AND WHISTLE'S.

Solve the problem resulting from updating with Catalina, used my external hard drive to restore to an earlier time and got everything back minus my music library, and photo album, which I also recovered from an older back up and pages was returned in the original form that I’m used to using by saving several open documents to the upper part of my screen which is numerous open pages that I can forefinger scroll through from right to left or vice a versa, which gives me the ability two combine certain pages and re-design. Then I went to my Mac and turned off automatic updates so that I can wait a month or so to check online and see what problems were caused and fixed before I update. I feel that Candelita leader was not ready for a distribution yet even though it had some nice additions to it. It would be important to update and have the new additions without taking some of our most important work spaces away Or deleting them etc.

I’m also have a same problem when compressing the zip files that had downloaded in Google drive web version

I already restart or restart the helper application, but My mom uses Screen Time to restrict deleting and installing apps

Any Other Ways????

My only way Is to put iPad in recovery mode and connect to your mac or PC via USB with iTunes or Finder opened.

all you have to do on your mac or pc is to click Restore.

I also have the same problem, I was thinking that resetting and restoring can be helpful

To restore your iPad is to connect the iPad into the mac or PC then open Finder on iTunes

then, put your iPad in recovery mode for iPad with home button press power button and home button at the same time

for iPad pro in 2020 press volume up and volume down at the same time.

in your Mac or PC press restore

To reset go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase Content and settings

enter your passcode

Make sure you have backed up your iPad using iCloud or iTunes backup on your mac.

Download iTunes for PC: https://www.microsoft.com/en-id/p/itunes/9pb2mz1zmb1s?rtc=2&activetab=pivot:overviewtab

Hope this works..
