How can I use two MIDI controller keyboards at once for different patch sounds?

Following the steps below:

1. Go to “layout” mode
2. physically select your controller within MainStage
3. click assign
4. hit a key on your actual/physical controller

repeat steps 1-4 for your second controller

1. click assign, to turn this off
2. go to “edit” mode
3. select the patch with multiple channel strips
4. assign the corresponding controller to the channel strip within “inspector” at the bottom middle of the screen from the “midi” tab

The various responses are correct but could be a little confusing.

To clarify: you can only use 1 MainStage patch at a time BUT a patch can contain multiple channel strips, thereby allowing you to control different sounds with different keyboards simultaneously. You can simply set the channel strips to respond to each controller as desired.

Actually, you want two patch selectors, right? This is not supported. But if you have a Logic Pro installed, why not using that as a secondary sound source. You need some environment magic in Logic to filter for the keyboard, but it does work.

As explained you can have two keyboards working at the same time, but never independently, because there can only ever one patch active at any give time.
