microphone not working
My microphone on my macbook air is not working.
I´ve already checked sound preferences, where i´ve chosen the built-in microphone. I´ve also given access to the microphone. Why isn´t it working??

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities, and I understand the microphone isn't working on your MacBook Air. I'll do what I can to help.
Based on what you've done already, try the rest of the steps for general troubleshooting of the Mac:
- Restart your Mac from the Apple () menu then Restart
- Reset the SMC which control power to the microphone: How to reset the SMC of your Mac
- Reset the PRAM/NVRAM which controls some settings related to sound: Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac
- To narrow it down, also be sure to check your Mac in safe mode: Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac You can also try a new user as well: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac
- If it only happens in your user and not in safe mode, try removing login items, especially ones that control access to the microphone: Open items automatically when you log in on Mac
- If it happens in both safe mode and a new user, back up your Mac and reinstall macOS using Recovery which will reinstall information for the microphone: How to reinstall macOS from macOS Recovery
