What is BugSplat and how do I get rid of it?

BugSplat is describes as a reporting tool used by game developers to assist with debugging. It manifests as a dialog box that opens upon the crash or unexpected shutdown of a monitored application.


The problem is that it does tend to appear sometimes on a Mac that has no associated game applications installed, and likely has been installed as a piggyback on some other package, just like any other adware or malware.


MalwareBytes is a good place to start in the removal of the offender.

You can download and run Malwarebytes, it’s a very popular scan tool among veteran users here in the Community – the only one recommended by Apple tech support folks. See if it can identify any malware you may inadvertently have installed. The free version is probably all you need at this point.
