Hello, Please I just realized that my macbook camera isn't working for my applications (Photobooth and Facetime) after I updated to macOS Catalina.
Kindly help me resolve this error.
MacBook Pro 13", macOS 10.15
I just had this error after upgrading to 10.15.7
After some stress, I fixed it by:
1) opening Screen Time in System Preferences, then adding my browsers, FaceTime, Zoom, etc, to the section "Always Allowed"
2) restarting
3) tested things starting with FaceTime (I figure Apple is going to be the most relaxed about their own software).
The camera and microphone worked as normal in all the apps. I also noticed whereas before in Security & Privacy, the Camera and Microphone sections didn't allow me to add anything, those areas were now behaving as one would expect.
It doesn't work for me but thank you for your message
I upgraded my Catalina to the newest version and still have the same problem despite there being an address of camera issues in the update description. Ridiculous to think Apple will not own up to the software issue
Camera hasn’t been working for the past 4-5 weeks. I’ve tried every solution that I found online. Resetting PRAM, terminal commands etc. Nothing worked. This morning I updated to OS Big Sur and voila. Camera is back to life.
I updated to big slur on my MacBook Pro 2017 with Touch Bar and still the camera is still not fixed. I have done everything including the Karsperky. It still won't display the camera. I refuse to play $900 for a new screen when it broke without a users error. I hope apple starts seeing these common issues and compensates us. Clearly we all have similar issues not caused by us. Anyway hope you get yours fixed.
I was told the same exact thing AFTER even speaking with an engineering team. Seems like it has to be a software issue considering my camera was working an hour before the update.
I also have one MacBook Pro 2016 with touchbar with the same problem. Updated to Big Sur and the problem is not fixed. Waiting for an answer from apple.
