safari problem

Hello everyone,

I've been having an annoying problem the past couple of weeks on both my macbook and iphone.

I can't join several websites on both the devices but only when i am connected to my home's wifi network. I get this error: safari can't open the page because safari can't establish a secure connection to the server.

However if i join a different wifi network or use mobile data all websites work perfectly on both my macbook and iphone. I have tried several other non apple devices using my home's wifi and they have no problem.

I tried downloading different browsers but the problem stays.

I have also tried reseting my router but that didn't help.

Anyone got any tips?

Thanks,

Alex

Hi Alex,

  1. Open System Preferences and go to Network;
  2. Click Advanced;
  3. Navigate to the DNS tab and click + button
  4. Enter 8.8.8.8 and hit Enter;
  5. Once again, click + button;
  6. Submit 8.8.4.4 and click Enter afterward;
  7. Hit Ok and Apply buttons

  1. Open the site which shows Safari can't establish a secure connection error;
  2. Navigate to the address bar and click the (Lock icon) Secure button;
  3. Select More information
  4. ick on View Certificate and check which certificate is in use;
  5. Go to Details tab and click Command + Space buttons at the same time;
  6. In the Spotlight Search enter Keychain;
  7. On the left panel select System Roots
  8. Search for the website's certificate;
  9. Click on it and expand Trust section;
  10. On When using this certificate section select Always trust.

Are you running any AntiVirus or Cleaning Apps? Both can cause this.

Hi Aqua,

Thanks for your reply.

I changed my network settings as you said but when i entered a website that i can't join in safari i didn't get the small lock icon on top. It only appears in websites that i can join. So i used a different browser to see which certificate it is. I got the name went back to safari opened a normal website found that certificate and set it always trust but unfortunately that didn't solve the problem.

No I do not use any antivirus or cleaning apps on my mac or iphone.
