Iphone 8 failure when attempting to transfer image files from phone to computer "Catastrophic failure"

Hi Everyone,

I have an Apple Iphone 8 and connect it via the lightning cable to my HP Envy Notebook running Windows 10, with 12GB available Ram, and ample storagespace on my C drive.

When I connect my iPhone to the PC to attempt to transfer image files from the iPhone internal storage- (within the DCIM folder) I can only see some of the more recent image files. The older images (> 1 year) are not visible in the folder.

Further, sometimes when attempt to copy the files that are visible, I recieve a very non specific error message "Catastrophic failure" or a message "Error Copying file or folder, a devices attached to the system is not functioning"

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated

Thanks!

iPhone 8, iOS 13

Try installing iTunes on your PC. If iTunes is there, try updating it.
