Display mirroring coming out too small?

When I mirror my Macbook to my HDTV, the display is teeny tiny! I keep adjusting everything I can find in the Display settings and it doesn't help.

Display mirroring not working My macbook display LCD is broken so i’ve been mirroring the display onto a TV with a HDMI cable for a while now. Today it started goofing so I checked out the scaling(?) slider in System Preferences and must’ve clicked something wrong and now all it displays is an apple wallpaper, no login access or apple toolbar, just a plain old sand dune stock photo in the middle of my TV. Help pls 😩

Screen size when mirroring Macbook with HP monitor I have a Macbook air year 2020 and I just bought an HP 24m monitor for work. I want to mirror my screen because I just want to have one screen that's larger than the normal laptop so as not to strain my eyes as much. But every time I mirror, all the sides are cut off, as in, I can only see half of the dock on the bottom and half of the Apple menu bar at the top, which is really frustrating. Is this because the screen sizes are different and can this issue be fixed? I've tried changing the resolution but this didn't help. Should I just buy a different monitor or is Apple incompatible with the rest of the world?

Do you mean your macbook built in screen suddenly shows everything very small when mirroring?

Go to system preferences>display and select in the Dropbox: optimise for: and change the option to “built in Retina display” and try again.
