Apple TV 4K Power Consumption-Running Hot
The Apple TV 4k that I have has been running very hot. I did some initial searches and it talked about resetting the device. So I completely erased the device and re-installed the current OS 13.3.1. I then connected the device to a kill-a-watt meter to see what the wattage use was. So while streaming 1080P content I noticed that the meter indicated that the device was using 5.86 watts. According to Apple's Environmental Report, the device would/should only use 5.77 watts when streaming 4k HDR content. So, I went to Settings>Video and Audio and set the device to match the channel content of 1080P. The Apple TV immediately started to use the correct amount at about 2.8 watts. SO there is a software glitch in this thing. No matter what the streaming data content level is, the Apple TV runs at the highest level set in the Settings menu.
