PLUGs are on the ends of cables.
Holes in the side of your Mac where you insert plugs are called JACKs.
The standard configuration is with all jacks not blocked. If the jack is blocked, somebody put a foreign object in it. You need to remove it or find someone who can.
If the plug does not fit, are you certain it is the correct plug for that jack? does it have the thunderBolt next to that jack? is your USB-C cable an oval plug?
That machine is ancient. It does not have any USB-C ports. It is most definitely not a 2020 machine. Looks more like a 2011 machine.
it looks like a plastic piece in the hole on the mac pro
In what "hole"?
Can you post a picture?
Thunderbolt is not USB-C. It’s confusing. What you have is a first-generation Thunderbolt port. It will work fine with Thunderbolt 1 and 2 devices. It may work with a few self-powered Thunderbolt 3 devices using an adapter. There is nothing USB about it.
What is a "block".
it is 2012 mid year and specs say it does have thunderbolt jack
thanks for the help if i can't get it out i'll try apple store when they reopen
Get what out? I don't see anything that needs to come out. A USB-C plug will not fit in any of those ports none of which are USB-C.
