My macbook pro version is 10.14.2 and I have been trying to update it to its latest version lately but whenever I try to install the update it always says that "Installation Failed, an error occurred while installing the selected update." How can I fix this?

MacBook Pro 13", macOS 10.14

Upgrade or update.

First download and install the update of for the stable release:

Combo update 10.14.6 https://support.apple.com/kb/DL2010?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

If this is your issue, then from SafeBoot, both download and install:

If you want to upgrade from there after the fact, verify you have a current backup plan, then reference:

Typically you are always better off running the most current macOS your machine will allow—especially for the built in security features.

Old app compatibility maybe one reason to hold back— you have to do your own homework here: https://roaringapps.com/apps

Have you tried installing whilst in Safe Mode, Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac – Apple Support

If you are trying to update using the System Preferences> Software update mechanism then make sure your

mac is connected to your router via cable. And if that still does not work try downloading the Combo update

from here, https://support.apple.com/kb/DL2010?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

do not use the mac while it is downloading and do not use any other devices that share the same internet

connection.
