I used Google Hangouts for the first time in Safari today. I now have a video camera icon at the top of the screen
I cannot figure out how to remove it.
It also shows in red on my URL bar on the right.

Hi Debbie. I would recommend closing Safari completely and then re-launching it. I had this same issue and that was my resolution.
Nope :(. First thing I tried. I cannot find system preference or any setting I can think of.

Hold down the command key, then click and hold on the icon to see if you can drag it from the menu bar.
