Dropped phone in water still won’t charge :/

So I was taking a relaxing bath when my iPhone XR slipped out of my hands and into the water. I immediately took it out and dried it off. However, there was a little bit of water in my hard-to-take-off heavy duty clear otter box case so it took me a while to pry it open. After about 2-3 minutes of doing so I succeeded and dried off my phone and the inside of the case. I put my phone back in the case and resumed going on it when the same thing happened again! (I’m a such a klutz.) I followed the same procedure but also set my naked phone down to dry for 5 minutes and decided to finish my bath. About 4 hours later when I went to charge my phone I got a notification saying “Liquid has been detected in lightning connector. Disconnect to allow the connector to dry. Charging now may damage your phone.” So I did some googling and found out what to do. But it’s been over 30 minutes and I still can’t charge my phone and I’m starting to get worried. Is there anything I could do besides setting my phone down or putting it in rice? (Which I learned your not supposed to do.) Thanks!!!

iPhone XR, iOS 13
