My Launchpad is empty. How do I re-populate it?

From what I've read is that your Launchpad is empty when opening it. I'd like to help. Does Launchpad open? Are you able to add apps to the Launchpad? Use Launchpad on your Mac If you're able to do so, do the apps stay in place?
