Inception - "Launchpad" Icon is in the "Launchpad" view - Ventura 13.1

Hey,

Don't know if I'm the only one, but I started seeing the "Launchpad" Icon is in the "Launchpad" view all of a sudden. Anyone knows how to "fix" it?

- MacBook Pro 14" - M1

- Ventura 13.1

Thank you!

Launchpad is an application that mimics what you see in an iPhone or ipad Home Screen and , as you know, can be used to er… launch applications. Just like on an iPhone or iPad, you can organize the icons, and you can remove them pretty much in the same way.

There is one important difference: in Launchpad, when you remove an icon you are NOT deleting the respective application, just removing it from the list. It is still in your mac and can still be launched in many other ways.

So click and hold on an icon, they start trembling and click the x - just like in the iPhone.

FWIW, this is not a bug. It certainly is worthless to have the icon there, but then you can put the icon for any application in Launchpad, and Launchpad itself is an application.

Sorry, I have no idea why Launchpad appears for you inside Launchpad.

I never ever use Launchpad, and I can't make it appear there.

Perhaps the only solution is to reset Launchpad - that unfortunately means that you will then have to reorganize the icons again in the way you want them.

You can do this by opening Terminal and pasting the following command (it should be one long line):

defaults write com.apple.dock ResetLaunchPad -bool true && killall Dock

Perhaps if the User were to give us a Screen Shot of what you are seeing we could understand this issue better

Use the Shift Command 5 ( 3 keyboard combo ) and post back using the " Insert Image " icon

FYI - the Launchpad screen shot below is just 1 of 3 panels I see on this computer

The X in any icon denotes the Application would not only be removed from Launchpad but would also Delete the Application from the computer.

Not All Application can be removed this way.

Hello aviadhaham,

Launchpad is a native function within the Mac and does have a separate icon. It's described and shown here: Use Launchpad to view and open apps on Mac - Apple Support

Open and close Launchpad

  • Open Launchpad: Click the Launchpad icon  in the Dock (or use the Control Strip).
  • Close Launchpad without opening an app: Click anywhere (except on an app) or press Esc.

Is this what you're seeing? Or were you seeing the Launchpad icon within Launchpad once opened?

Cheers!
