com.apple.Safari.History CPU Usage

com.apple.Safari.History has begun using upwards of 100% of my CPU. I tried resetting SMC, NVRAM, and PRAM, but it has not had any effect. The one thing that works is to top syncing Safari to iCloud, but this isn't a sustainable solution. Anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions?

com.apple.Safari.History using large amounts of my CPU Whenever I boot up the computer and open safari, the com.apple.Safari.History starts using large amounts of my CPU (usually something like 100%) and the fan has to kick on to manage the rising temperature. Force Quitting the process in Activity Monitor fixes the problem until I put my computer to sleep and wake it up again, at which point the issue comes back. Disabling iCloud syncing between my 2020 MacBook Air (quad core) and my iPhone X is not a sustainable solution.

com.apple.safari.history high CPU usage I have Safari 14.0.2 installed and every time when I start up my computer a process called com.apple.safari.history is running and my computer fan will turn on (which is not normal) even when Safari is not open. And when I open Safari and go to History I will see no history. But when I close Safari, killed the process and reopen Safari again the history will come back. Is this a known bug? Thanks.

Why Am I Being Warned of a Web Page Using Too Much Energy, When it's Not? I am constantly getting these irritating warnings about this page or that (often it's Facebook, which apparently causes Safari all kinds of problems, since nothing works well, and the warning pops up quite quickly, and so much so, that the page will auto-refresh, no matter what I'm in the middle of), using "significant energy". Well, it popped up today on a page that is using neither "significant energy" (0.4% CPU), nor memory (200MB), so why is it showing up? And you can see Safari alone is using over 3GB of memory, and .apple.Safari.History is using almost a whole Gig of RAM, for what? I've cleared cache, but to no effect, and I can't believe just retaining places visited would require that much memory. I thought Safari is supposed to be most efficient for those of us using Macs, that "seamless coordination" due to all from the same source, etc...

Thanks for the suggestion! I gave it a shot, but I'm afraid com.apple.Safari.History popped up again at 100% CPU usage.

Quit Safari.

Close or minimize all windows.

Click on the Desktop to activate Finder.

Click “Go” menu in the Finder and then choose “Go to Folder”.

When the Go to Folder window appears, enter ~/Library/Safari and then click “GO” button.

In the resulting window, select all four history items, right click and choose Move to Trash.

Restart and launch Safari to test.
