Unable to connect to non blue tooth speakers

I used to be able to connect my iphone/ipad to a non-blue tooth receiver using an adapter, charging cord, and usb connection. This week I noticed that the iphone/ipads don't recognize the setup, but still recognize a headphone/earphone. I verified everything works separately, but not together to do what I want. I am assuming this is some sort of setting issue, but can't find the settings. Thanks for any advice.

Good day, Don_in_PHX.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. I understand you are having difficulties with using a wired speaker. I’m happy to help point you in the right direction.

First, Restart your iPhone. Also, make sure your iOS is up-to-date. Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

Then, test another cable. If the issue persists, are you able to test another speaker?

I hope this helps! Don’t hesitate to respond if you have further questions.

Best wishes.
