emails from 2018-2020 disappeared from mail

Mail app has only emails from 2011-2017, but none from 2018-2020. new emails coming in and showing at top of the list as normal. i accidentally moved my whole inbox to the junk, so went in and selected all to move back to inbox, it came up with 'downloading' at the bottom but seems to think it has completed, but doesnt seem to have moved 2018-2020 and they arent showing anywhere (they are showing in inbox if log in on browser) any ideas?

note: when looking at the account in settings>passwords and accounts> and selecting the effected account, the 'mail days to sync' option doesnt appear, but does appear for my other linked unaffected account?
