iPhone X: 3D Touch - Too Sensitive

I've just took delivery of a new iPhone X, to replace a previous one which was lost.

Anyway, long story short, but the screen is too sensitive in comparison to my previous one. I tap on a folder or app, and it activates the 3D Touch - literally a tap, and not all of the time, but a lot of the time.

I've changed the settings within accessibility, to firm, but still find that 3D Touch is activating at the lightest of touches.

Has anyone else experienced this, and is there a solution? Or do I potentially have a faulty digitiser on the replacement phone?

iPhone X, iOS 13

Hello Manchesterr,

I understand the screen on the replacement device you received is very sensitive to touch. I'm happy to help you get to the bottom of this.

You did the right thing by changing the touch sensitivity in Accessibility settings. You may want to try changing the Touch Duration to Slow if it's currently set to Fast. This may help out. I also recommend testing it out with no screen protector or case on your iPhone, and without accessories connected and restarting your iPhone: Restart your iPhone.

When you received the replacement device did you restore a backup to it right away? If you didn't have a chance to test to see if your screen was this sensitive prior to restoring it from a backup, the next best step would be to restore it to factory settings so you can do that. Make sure you make a backup first since restoring it will erase everything currently on your device. Here are steps on how to restore: Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings. You'll find a link near the top of that article that will show you how to back up.

Once the restore is complete, set up your phone as new and then test it out. Restore it from your backup afterwards and test it out again: Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup. Restoring your iPhone helps to rule out software issues. If the issue persists you may be dealing with the issue described here: iPhone X Display Module Replacement Program for Touch Issues. If so, contacting Apple Support would be the next best step: Contact Apple for support and services.

Take care.
